During its on-going Legacy and Evolution Project, ISMETA’s creative team became inspired to explore the global roots of our somatic movement practices. This is the second full length video created from conversations they had with some of the most respected elders in our field. This video highlights the lives and roots of the somatic practices, explorations and approaches of Sondra Fraleigh, Larry Goldfarb, and Daria Halprin.

Sondra Fraleigh
RSMT, MS, Founding Director of EastWest Somatics
Sondra Fraleigh, Eastwest Director, Professor of Dance Emeritus and Fulbright Scholar, is an international leader in dance, yoga, and somatic healing arts. She Is a Registered Feldenkrais® teacher and Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist. Sondra is RYT-1000 registered yoga teacher with more than 1000 hours of training and teaching. Through her institute, she offers registration with Yoga Alliance. She has been a professor of dance and somatics for more than 40 years, now retired from the Department of Dance at the State University of New York at Brockport. Sondra continues to teach through her institute and is a mentor to dancers and somatic practitioners in the USA, Europe, Japan, Mexico and India. Larry Goldfarb

Larry Goldfarb has maintained a private Feldenkrais practice for 40 years, during which time he has also taught public classes and workshops, professional seminars, teacher training, and postgraduate programs. He provides both in-person and online supervision, coaching, program design, and mentoring. A pioneer in distance learning, Larry has made programs available via the Internet for more than a dozen years; he has taught in conferences, clinics, universities, dance schools, acting programs, conservatories, and public forums around the world for more than 35 years. Daria Halprin
MSME/T, MA, Co-founder and Director of Tamalpa Institute
Daria Halprin, a dancer, poet, teacher, and author, is among the leading pioneers in the field of movement/dance and expressive arts education and therapy. Her work bridges the fields of somatic psychology, movement/dance therapy, expressive arts therapy, community-based arts and health education, organizational consultancy, leadership development, social change and performance. Bringing a life-long practice in the arts to her work, published writings include: Coming Alive; The Expressive Body in Life, Art and Therapy; contributing author Expressive Arts Therapy: Principles and Practices, Poesis: Essays on the Future of the Field; Body Ensouled, Enacted and Entranced. In 1978, Daria co-founded the Tamalpa Institute where she directs training programs in movement/dance and expressive arts education, consultancy and therapy.
