DESCRIPTION:

This series of classes introduces participants to the magnificent process of translating research findings into their client work, thus promoting evidence-based practice. We will use movement and imagery as a model for practicing informed clinical decision making and therapy design. Participants will be encouraged to bring case studies to work on throughout the sessions for their personal and professional growth.

Participants will learn:
• To describe the neuro-motor-cognitive mechanisms connecting physical and imaged movement
• To translate research findings into practice in an informed manner
• To develop evidence-based treatments within the participant's area of expertise


Dr. Amit Abraham, ASMP

Dr. Amit Abraham (Ph.D, MAPhty Musculuskeletal, B.P.T) is a musculoskeletal physical therapist who specializes in mental imagery. His research spans basic and applied aspects of mental imagery, including mechanisms of effect and the beneficial effects of mental imagery training on motor, sensory-motor and cognitive functions in a variety of populations, including dancers, athletes, older adults, individuals with Parkinson Disease and amputations. Dr. Abraham is a faculty member (tenured track) in the Department of Physical Therapy, Ariel University (Israel), where he serves as the head of the Mental Imagery and Human Embodied Potential lab (www.ariel.ac.il/wp/mihepl). Dr. Abraham holds a Bachelor in Physical Therapy from Tel-Aviv University (Israel), a Masterʼs Degree in Musculoskeletal Physical Therapy from The University of Queensland (Australia), and a Ph.D. in Physical Therapy from the University of Haifa (Israel). Dr. Abraham completed his post-doctoral training at Emory University School of Medicine (USA) and served as an adjunct assistant professor at the Department of Kinesiology, The University of Georgia (USA).

If a participant cancels their registration to any paid offering in the Professional Development Center, they will receive the following refund:
Full refund minus the PayPal fees, more than 4 weeks before the event begins
75% refund from 1-4 weeks before the event begins
50% refund from 1-6 days before the event begins
No refund on the day that the event begins or while it is in progress ISMETA reserves the right to cancel any offering in the Professional Development Center before the course begins due to unforeseen circumstances. In this case, a full refund will be given.
