A Moving Inquiry: The Art of Personal Practice

ISMETA is proud to announce that former Board President, Beth Pettengill Riley’s, recently published book on home Somatic Practice:  A Moving Inquiry: The Art of Personal Practice, has been included as a required text in Denison University’s Somatic Dance Courses. Rooted in the work of Continuum and co-authored by Priscilla Auchincloss with support from Watermark Arts, this six-week guide to a home embodiment practice provides students with a rich ground for creating and maintaining momentum in their Somatic discoveries. The book offering is presented in a spacious format, beautifully illustrated with original work by artists of all disciplines who have relied on Continuum for their inspiration and creative outpourings.  In 2021, the Denison faculty participated with Beth in an online course of the same name and have included all of the practice videos for each week in their curriculum as well.
